OH NOOOOES!!! o-o;; Losing everything is just terrible, but don't feel too bad! You definitely aren't the only one who has had that happen. *points to self* I had TONS of stuff on a portable drive that all of a sudden stopped working AND about a year or two ago, my laptop went rogue on me. It decided that I didn't need all of my school assignments, music, and a bunch of other stuff, so it wouldn't boot correctly. Actually, I knew that something was bound to happen because the thing was overheating constantly, but I found out later that the problem was caused by a faulty fan. -__-;;
Luckily, I was able to get some of the files off the laptop before switching out the hard drive and fan, but the portable is most likely a goner. ^^;; Although I read somewhere that if you put it in the freezer, that will cause the hard disk to contract or something which allows you enough time to pull files off before it dies again. I'm thinking about trying that before chucking the paperweight. LOL XDD
I wouldn't give up hope on your computer entirely, not just yet anyway. Because depending on the actual problem -and the steps you took on your own- the tech guy might be able to salvage something off of it. If he can't...well, then you just get a clean slate to start over with! :) It's a pain re-downloading everything and you can't replace the irreplaceable of course, but starting fresh can be the impetus for a deluge of new and wonderful creations! <-- I'm not sounding too much like a school counselor here am I? XDD;;

LOL. I totally do the exact same thing! XDD I am sooooo glad school is over and I don't have to 'pretend' anymore! Best of luck with your finals~ if they aren't over already. ;D
We missed you as much as you missed LJ! ROFL~ I can't wait to read all your cracky fabulous entries again!! XDD Who knows, I might even attempt a post or two myself...I can't guarantee it's gonna happen, but I'm really going to try this time! *fighting pose* LOL
