Just a continuation on various things I've been watching. It doesn't stop! Speaking of things that don't quit, everyone I know is getting married. I'm at that age where everyone around me is having a wedding. I will have been to 3 weddings this year, in which I'm a part of the wedding party for all three. And I'll be going for sure to 2 more early next year. It's rough when there's all this love in the air, lol.

Wonder Woman
Geezus, Gal Gadot is such a classic beauty. All of the close-ups of her were gorgeous. I quite enjoyed the ridiculous slow-motion posing during the action scenes. Also Ares lookin' like he came out of a Dark Souls game is amazing.

The Fault in Our Stars
It took me a looong time to watch this. I loved the book and genuinely cried while reading it (during Isaac's eulogy in particular). People have told me the movie just wasn't up to par, which is reasonable; it rarely ever is. But I finally got to seeing it and it was as people said. It was a decent movie, but just didn't incite the same feelings as reading the book. I did enjoy the little John Green cameo though.

Fate/Zero & Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works
What I love about this series is that it gives no damns for character deaths. Granted, I actually enjoyed the prequel a little more than UBW, just because there was more depth to the servants and their backgrounds. UBW was just a bit too high-schooly for me. But to sum it up: best recurring kill is choke death (everyone wanted to choke a bitch), best weapon Gae Bolg, best villain Gilly (Gilgamesh) -- he's just too beautiful, still holding out for Gilly and Saber's wedding. I don't know how Saber can say no. Thoroughly ate this entire thing up.

Hey, don't forget: I am the bone of my sword.

Forever
I recently rewatched this gem of a series. It's just a one season ABC show and one that totally deserved more than it got. I'm not alone with that either -- I have the show page liked on Facebook and every time it updates with a clip and "Watch it again streaming here" post, there is RAGE in the comments. It makes me laugh, but also sad 'cause I too want more. Anyway, it's about a medical examiner that has been around the same age for the last 200 years. Reason why, he can't die. When he does get shot or killed, he just wakes up again naked in a nearby body of water. His character is very Sherlock-ish in the way that he just knows a lot about everything, and the premise isn't really anything that hasn't been seen before. But I just love the characters. All of them are so charming and is the reason why it's so re-watchable. Totally recommended.

America's Next Top Model: Seasons 1-2
I can feel the judgment. But I saw all of it is up on Hulu and I decided to watch it from the beginning during lunch at work. And oh boy is all the drama so delicious. The staying power of fashion is quite amazing. A lot of the styles are still in (or were brought back) today, even though these episodes were in the early 2000s. Also, Tyra Banks doesn't age. She looks exactly the same hosting America's Got Talent today, what!

Guys, I've been watching a TON of stuff. It's like all I do now. All of the anime, jdramas (although not as many as I would like), movies and TV shows. So much that I have no idea how I fit any of it into my schedule. AND I've been playing a lot of video games, whaat. But I guess it only seems like a lot due to how rare my posts are. |D; SO HERE WE GO.

Kimi no Na Wa (Your Name)
Everyone and their grandmother's labrador has seen this movie. And with good reason. I watched it streaming first, which I know I know was a terrible idea, and I thought it was a damn good movie. BUT THEN I SAW IT AGAIN IN THE THEATER. It was a whole 'nother experience. The music got to me. The iphone scene was again SO REAL HOW? The music got to me. I knew what was going to happen and yet my eyes got dry and had to lubricate themselves. I didn't even tear up the first time I watched it so these tears were so unexpected. Watching it in the theater was so very worth it.

Bungou Stray Dogs
I really enjoyed the first two seasons of this. Each character is based off a literary figure and their 'moves' are names of their work. And embarrassingly enough, it took me way too long to figure that out since I wasn't as familiar with japanese authors. It was a no-brainer once the foreigners joined in the cast, lol. The art and action is fantastic. Also, Dazai is A+. I'm there once the third season is out.

A Life
Probably KimuTaku's most emotionless character. A lot of medical dramas are ridiculous, and most of the time that's why I love them. This one was just something else. I didn't understand why he was helping this hospital in Japan when there was nothing there for him. Asano Tadanobu's character was unbelievable. Why they wasted him on that character, I will never know. Although it was refreshing to see Matsuyama Kenichi in a drama. I'm also unsure why halfway, the opening decided to change the title from A Life to A LiVe. I mean, I'm complaining but I still quite enjoyed it and finished it, lol.

Fragile
Speaking of medical dramas. NAGASE. FREAKING. TOMOYA. So many slides. I THINK WE'RE GONNA NEED JUST ONE MORE ENDOSCOPY, they say for the third time.

Legion
Without spoiling anything, the entire show is quite weird, but that's to be expected with a schizophrenic mutant. Sudden obese demon sightings we dubbed The Fat Man. Also, David speaking to himself in two different accents is genius.

There's plenty more that I'll just continue in another post. :D

Goodness guys, Perfume is adorable. I was expecting them to be great live, and yet I'm still super impressed! I went to the last show of the Cosmic Explorer tour in New York. Lemme just try to recount the concert experience, shall I? I apologize in advance that things may be out of order and more of a general recollection of the event rather than in-depth; my memory ain't the greatest.

What happens at a Perfume concert )

tldr; YES. PERFUME. YES.

Eeeet's been a heckuva long time! So shhh, let's forget my last entry was four years ago. As I'm typing this, I'm realizing this may be quite a long entry, lol. But hey, this is long overdue. And I've got fandoms I need to talk about, this is important.

Let's take a look at this screenshot of Matsujun right here. Yes. I was watching this and my mom passes by and catches him on the screen. You know what she says? "How is he so handsome?" I didn't know how to answer, because I really don't know how. That is Matsumoto Jun for you.

Sekai Ichi Muzukashii Koi (Episodes 1-3): I have to be honest and say, it's been a long time since I've caught up on Arashi dramas. It's probably been a couple of years I'd say, but I couldn't resist this one. And good thing, because it is quirky and adorable. That is all.

Thermae Romae (Movies 1-2): I'm late on these movies but Abe Hiroshi is hilarious in these. I ended up watching them with my sister as we ate, and my parents were around and ended up watching with us as well. It was that funny. And he's naked 90% of the time, it's a wonder why Ueto Aya's character cannot resist.

Hamilton: The Musical: Ha! Thought I'd make the entire world outraged and say I got tickets, huh. Well nope, but HOLY HELL WOULD I LOVE TO GO. Count me in as one of the obsessed. YOU GUYS, you need to listen to this entire musical about the life of Alexander Hamilton. And the good thing is you can from beginning to end, because if a line is not sung, it is rapped. It's all on Youtube/Spotify and other places I'm sure. If I had to pick a favorite song (AND IT IS HARD) it would be Satisfied. You're welcome. :) Okay, okay I have honorable mentions: Guns and Ships, It's Quiet Uptown.

His Dark Materials: I think I've written about this trilogy before and I'm so fond of these series of books -- The Golden Compass/Northern Lights, Amber Spyglass, Subtle Knife, by Philip Pullman. And this article is telling me that the BBC is making a TV show and I AM STOKED. The Golden Compass movie kind of, I dunno, bombed didn't translate well to the screen, so I'm hoping the TV series will do it justice.

The Kingkiller Chronicles: This is along similar lines and I CAN'T WAIT. Also the third book would be nice. I've been waiting a long time so I guess I can keep waiting..

Also going to a Perfume concert and Aladdin on Broadway in September, whaaaaat. *_*

Love you my friends, I'm still alive and still checking my friends list even if I've not been active. :D
midori: (Dom-Yo-G (It's Hummingyay.))
  • SO MATSUJUN. Is We wanna funk, we need a funk really what you're singing? You can tell me the truth.

Halfway through listening to the album, but so far so great. :D I've been a little worried because their singles have been so off. I freaking loved Face Down but Your Eyes was so forgettable I downloaded the single twice, because I forgot I downloaded it before and had deleted it once. XD

  • I have been playing Skyrim! And this wouldn't make sense to anyone who doesn't play but I sometimes stand at the corner of the hallway when my sister walks past and go, "You know what's wrong with Skyrim these days? Everyone is obsessed with death." in Jon Battleborn's voice. Yep. (Because he is ALWAYS THERE when you're trying to run to general store or apothecary. There is no way that no one has memorized his lines, lol.) If anyone's curious, I play a dark elf (who is supposed to be good at being stealthy), so usually they'd wear light armor. But no, my character wears amazingly heavy armor. I am a freaking mecha, who still manages to pickpocket without getting caught. I am that good.

Also this is possibly why I watch Merlin. Maybe. )

  • Revolution is KILLING ME. I can not take this show seriously. How in the world are they going to explain why not only ALL kinds of power is down, but also batteries suddenly stop working? (What happened to solar/wind/steam/anything power?! -- Wait, finally in episode 4, they learned they could use firewood to run trains, ..lol.) BUT how are they going to explain the rest?! That is how I am roped into finishing. Even if the main girl protag is a hypocritical whiner that can't do anything, I will endure it. Doesn't mean I can't complain the entire time, rofl. My sister and I are like, SHE NEEDS TO DIEEEE the entire time we watch this show.

  • I've decided I'm only watching Arrow for Diggle.
  • midori: (Emo Nino (All Grown Up))

I finally watched One Day! This part just cracks me up I had to make a gif. Because I mean, he could just crumple it up and throw it but HE STABS IT WITH HIS FINGERS FIRST. The reason why I've been delaying watching this movie is because the book is plain depressing. And painful. And bittersweet. But I was pleased to find that the movie was good. It helps that it moved twice as fast and omitted a lot. If you thought the movie version of Emma and Dexter's missed opportunities were painful, it was muuuch worse in the book, lemme tell ya. I wanted to strangle Dexter so many times.

I'll be going to Anime Expo this year! And I'm an absolute convention newbie, so looking at the schedule is way overwhelming. o_o;; I decided to cosplay as Persona 4's Chie and my costume came just the other day. I tried it on and discovered I forgot one thing. I am an alien. I am not proportionate. I have abnormally freaky long arms. So it looks like this. It's not supposed to be 3/4 sleeved! This would have been fine if I chose the version of Chie with short sleeves but nooo, I chose the track jacket version. I'm trying to see if they could get it fixed in time but we'll see. XD

Edit: They e-mailed back saying that people with my arm length would normally be taller. That my arms don't correlate with my height. So they told me I should have e-mailed them my arm length along with the hip, bust, waist, and height that they asked for. Then they kindly said, don't worry we can help you, we can make you another one, at a discount. At a discount?! D:< Forget this, I will be the Chie with the awkward rolled up sleeves.

Ever since my cousin got Netflix, my sister and I have been parking ourselves in front of the TV every time we eat. And that leads to..

    TV SHOWS GUYS YEAH

Merlin (Season 1-4): One thing I love about this show, is how each season wraps up so nicely with action! And drama! And this is the one show that my mom started watching with us (by accident: I'm sure she saw Merlin/Arthur bromance and was an instant fan) and continued watching with us. She got real excited when she saw a preview on the Sy-Fy channel - even though we watch on Netflix: "Morgana was chasing Gwen in the forest!" It's an accomplishment if my Asian mama can remember all of the characters' names. Except Gaius. She always calls him Guy. Poor guy.

Glee (Season 1-3+): Chris Colfer once said in an interview that some girls told him that seeing his face makes them cry. This is pretty much how I feel whenever Kurt sings.

The Guild (Episodes 1-5): So this started off incredibly low-budget with awful acting but it really got much better as it went on. Episode 5 is pretty hilarious. Oh the memories of being part of a guild in an MMO.

Supernatural (Episodes 1-4): I am a total wuss. I really wanted to continue this and I feel like I'm missing on a lot of Sam and Dean goodness, but it's freakin' scary. XD If the rest of the episodes were like the airplane soul-taking episode it would be fine and dandy. But the Wendigo and Bloody Mary episodes creeped me out. I need like, a PG version of this show, guys. The next episode was titled Skin I think, and my sister and I decided to take a break. A long one.

Top Shot (Season 1-2): I LOVE THIS SHOW. It's so reality TV but so good. They compete not only with guns, but long bows! Crossbows! Blow-guns! Knives! TOMAHAWKS!

Full Metal Jousting (Season 1): Since I loved Top Shot so much, I thought this one would be a lot of fun too. It's all right, and I think there was just not enough diversity. It was just a regular joust after joust. My favorite parts of the show were the horses. Seriously.

    ---

On Jdramas, I've still got to catch up to Nazotoki & Lucky Seven, but I can only watch them in little doses. I did catch the first episode of Ohno's new drama and I love it already! There's something about it that really holds my attention that the other two didn't. I've yet to watch Aiba's new drama, but I've got it downloaded and it looks super cute. I mean, Aiba & Becky? You got me there.

I went (window) shopping with my sister the other day and we dropped by The Limited. I pointed out to my sister a pleated skirt that I really liked - it was really cute & really out of my price range - and so she in turn, decided to show me a skirt she liked. It was one of the articles on the display table, so I asked her, "Are you sure that's a skirt?" 'cause it was hard to tell and mesh-y and very see-through. She said, "Yeah it's a skirt! I'll just have to wear leggings," in all seriousness. I nodded. That's understandable, okay. Then she held it up for me to see. And it had sleeves.

Somehow that story was a whole lot more funny in the store. XD Must have been because she seriously did like that skirt. Except it's a shirt. Ha.

I'm gonna ramble a bit about The Hunger Games movie )

Wow-eee it's been so long since I wrote an entry. I have to thank [livejournal.com profile] kawarashii for reminding me I have a livejournal. ♥

I'm going with the book I drooled on lovingly:

I'm not sure whose idea it was to give baby Betty this book but it was the best idea ever. Firstly, it's interactive. You can pat the bunny, smell the flowers, and play hide-and-seek with Judy and Paul. So what if my copy had a defective scratch-and-sniff, and the piece of material for hide-and-seek was hanging by a thread.. I could still pat the fuzzy bunny. :D Secondly, the book demands you to. To quote: "Judy can pat the bunny. Now YOU pat the bunny." How could I not? But mainly, it brought me to the joy of reading. Well, eventually, because I did have an era where I'd only read pop-up books. But you know, reading is reading. Haha. I was one of those kids that was abandoned at the book area in stores. I'm sure a couple of very nice ladies asked me more than once if I knew where my parents were. My family would just drop me off there while they shopped, and then picked me up when they were done. This happened at Target, T.J.Maxx, the local grocery store, you name it.

And then stores started setting up those video game stations.. LOL.

Point is, I am definitely getting a copy of Pat the Bunny for my future children. I'm not sure where mine went but it wasn't in shape for sharing anyway. And I will abandon them in book sections of stores (with periodic surveillance). I turned out okay so I'm sure they will too. ;D

    Close Call

So I'm driving to school like usual. The window's down (well, halfway down because if it goes any lower it gets stuck and that's a whole 'nother problem) and the wind is breezily breezin' my sweaty neck. I'm speeding by eight miles but it's okay 'cause I never see any cops on the way to class. Or so I thought because in the corner of my eye I spot the police car. Except it's too late to notice because in a few seconds I will be passing this small side road the cop car is parked. I decelerate but it's no use. It's my time. I hope the officer is nice..

Then out of nowhere this white SUV (which evidently did not notice the sneakily hidden cop) comes zooming past me in the next lane, the police car pulls out, the siren's on and they're on the side of the road. Any other time I might have been like, "Ha-ha! Sucker!" but I was too relieved and recovering from my near-ticket incident.

Anyway, miracles really do sometimes happen.

As of today my summer class is over! WHOO. I feel like most of my entries are written right after a semester is over. Shows how sparse they are, yeesh. If anyone is curious, I was taking Human Anatomy & Physiology where I got counted off for writing Ejaculation Duct instead of Ejaculatory Duct. ..Yeah.

I have not even listened to Beautiful World even though I have it. I know I know, you may shoot me now.

Speaking of things I've bought, I also picked these up at Borders because they're officially shutting down. I'm on my second read-through of THG, and I still love it. As for the upcoming movie? IS IT MARCH 23RD YET. Reading through the interviews, I absolutely approve of the cast.

And guys, if you have not read the first two books of The Kingkiller Chronicle (The Name of the Wind & The Wise Man's Fear) you are missing out. It is epic fantasy in writing and in length - as in it is freakishly long but I wish it was longer. It makes me laugh in tears and then spouts beautiful poetry, even though the main character hates poetry and poets, ha. Kvothe plays the lute - the LUTE. Innkeeper Kote gives me Nino vibes, seriously. Also, Patrick Rothfuss is a hilarious person in general; I follow his blog, lol. ANYWAY. Read it and I will too. It's next on my re-reading list anyway.

Man, I really need to stop with these 'anyway's.
    midori: (Nino's Sock Part II)
The Hunger Games: I just finished Mockingjay and I am overwhelmed with emotions. I have loads to say about it, but I don't even know where to start. Just that, if you haven't read the series, READ. IT. You will not regret it. And then come back here and talk to me about it. :D?

Boy Meets Boy: Adorable, funny, witty. Short and sweet. I love the way it's written. Oh here, have a passage that might convince you.
I spin around and knock a few books off the shelves. When the song is through, I
    bend to pick them up.

I grasp on the ground and come face to face with a cool pair of sneakers.

"This yours?" a voice above the sneakers asks.

I look up. And there he is.

His hair points in ten different directions. His eyes are a little close together, but man, are
they green. There's a little birthmark on his neck, the shape of a comma.

    I think he's wonderful.

He's holding a book out to me. Migraines Are Only in Your Mind.

I am aware of my breathing. I am aware of my heartbeat. I am aware that my shirt is half
untucked. I take the book from him and say thanks. I put it back on the shelf. There's no way
that Self-Help can help me now.

Aaand, I guess this doesn't have anything to do with books, but I scanned a piano score of Niji (accompaniment sheet music again) for [livejournal.com profile] arashi_on's fundraiser for Japan via [livejournal.com profile] g_clef_no_arash. I'm also working on the rest of the music from the book for someone else, so that'll be up sometime as well. :)

I was looking for something in my livejournal through the calendar, and man, I used to post at least once a week! What happened to that? D:

  • I have a problem. Of all the SMAP solos on the newest album, I can't stop listening to Nakai's. Yes, you read that right. I don't know if its because his voice isn't as scratchy or because the melody's ridiculously catchy. Anyway, more repeats of Memory 'June' for me!
  • Alegria was awesome!! Some of the audience weren't awesome, however. As we were getting our seats, we found a lady with her children in our seats. I tried reasoning with her and confirming whether the seats matched her tickets, but she was giving me some real attitude, telling me she had the right seats and it was too dark for her to be reading her ticket. Luckily, her companion came by and re-checked their tickets. Turned out they had better seats than we did, sheesh.
  • My sister does the greatest impression of Mickey Mouse going, "Oh boy!" IT CRACKS ME UP SO BADLY. So in turn, I do Goofy, lol.
  • midori: (Emo Nino (Happiness))
(in Japanese that would be "Wow wow wow")

Officially on my Winter Break! Yaaaay

Things I am looking forward to:
  • First roadtrip with the family to visit more family! No, really. We used to always take planes! :O
  • WE ARE GOING TO A CIRQUE DU SOLEIL SHOW. WHEE.
  • Ashida Mana on Himitsu no Arashi-chan will be all sorts of adorable! If you haven't seen her on SMAPxSMAP Bistro yet, you should right now. She played hide-and-seek with them you guys.
  • Iryu 3: I love Team Dragon so much. And I also wish Noguchi would just go away forever but he keeps reviving, I don't even know.
  • Super Marionette Arashi. This segment, LOL.

I wish a happy holiday season to everyone! &hearts Stay warm! (Some people will have a harder time with that than others, I assume. XD)
  • midori: (Nino (Piano))
    I got to scanning the Arashi piano scores from this thick hikigatari music book. Instead of the usual piano solo sheet music, these are accompaniment music sheets arranged for playing while you/someone sings along. I quite enjoy this book's arrangements. It automatically opens to an Arashi song now that I've scanned the heck out of these pages. XD;;

  • Watched The Golden Compass with my sister. It's a shame that it pales in comparison to the book series. D:
  • Finished Shadow Hearts 2 and it was delightfully fun to play! I've gotten so attached to the characters from the first two games that I'm delaying playing the third, haha.
  • Cirque du Soleil will be in town! *o* The Alegria show specifically. The family is still deciding whether to go (if we're free then) and if we can afford to.
  • Like everyone says, Mother is so good. For a human drama, the pacing wasn't slow at all. I could not stop watching.

I am also terrified to check my flist and doing my best to avoid Boku no Miteiru Fuukei scans/mp3s just because mine hasn't arrived yet. XD I usually allow myself to be spoiled but since I received an e-mail that it shipped halfway through my vacation, I figured since I haven't spoiled myself since then, I may as well wait. /tldr; explanation

It seems that people have varying opinions on some of the songs - especially the solos - so I'm excited to hear what they sound like. The songs that I did get to hear that were leaked through radio shows (movin' on, Refrain, and Summer Splash!) didn't impress me much at first. Okay, maybe Refrain did. But then like a wildfire it all grows on you. (Lame analogy Betty. Wildfires don't grow on you; they spread and burn like hell. .. This is not the impression I was trying to make.) Even Love Rainbow grew on me too, dammit. :(

And I've been working on some icons and remembering how to do things via photoshop (!!), as to not disappoint those people I still have to finish requests for ("Still?! Didn't you say this five months ago?!" I know. D:).

I am amused Becky has a song titled, "RUN!!BEAR RUN!!".
