The Hunger Games: I just finished Mockingjay and I am overwhelmed with emotions. I have loads to say about it, but I don't even know where to start. Just that, if you haven't read the series, READ. IT. You will not regret it. And then come back here and talk to me about it. :D?
Boy Meets Boy: Adorable, funny, witty. Short and sweet. I love the way it's written. Oh here, have a passage that might convince you.
Aaand, I guess this doesn't have anything to do with books, but I scanned a piano score of Niji (accompaniment sheet music again) for
arashi_on's fundraiser for Japan via
g_clef_no_arash. I'm also working on the rest of the music from the book for someone else, so that'll be up sometime as well. :)

I spin around and knock a few books off the shelves. When the song is through, I
bend to pick them up.
I grasp on the ground and come face to face with a cool pair of sneakers.
"This yours?" a voice above the sneakers asks.
I look up. And there he is.
His hair points in ten different directions. His eyes are a little close together, but man, are
they green. There's a little birthmark on his neck, the shape of a comma.
I think he's wonderful.
He's holding a book out to me. Migraines Are Only in Your Mind.
I am aware of my breathing. I am aware of my heartbeat. I am aware that my shirt is half
untucked. I take the book from him and say thanks. I put it back on the shelf. There's no way
that Self-Help can help me now.

Date: 2011-03-23 09:26 pm (UTC)David Levithan was my god in high school. Boy Meets Boy is really good, and I definitely recommend The Realm of Possibility, the style he writes it in is super funky but I think you'd like it. ♥
I keep telling myself I'm gonna' read The Hunger Games! It's been on the best selling shelves at the local bookstore for like, nearly 2 years now. Prob'ly more. I think this summer I'll knock a few of those badboys down. I think for the most part I just never really knew what the series was about, ahaha. But I've yet to read a bad thing about it. P:
Ooh, Niji sheet music. Where were you last summer when I had to learn you by ear? xDD I might DL this when I find the time~
/SORRY FOR THE LENGTH
/DD8
XD
Date: 2011-03-23 10:11 pm (UTC)Reeeead them! *prods and pokes you with the books* It's a good time to too, since the final installment is out now. 8D
XDD I did that too, and didn't get to the end of the first verse, lol. I am so bad at playing by ear it isn't funny.
(!! I realized I have never added you back! Doing that now! :D)
Re: XD
Date: 2011-03-23 11:52 pm (UTC)/done with that
Ooh, but yeah. Totally my pleasure! I'm thinkin' I''m probably gonna' start living vicariously through this post alone until this semester's over and I actually get to reading actual books and not scholarly journal articles from the 60's. DD8
It's already done?! YES! I'm really impatient that way when it comes to series, so it's even better when they're all already out, ahaha. *is prodded and poked and effectively encouraged*
xDDD Ahahah, playing by ear is all I've really got since reading off the sheet takes me a century and a half.
(I didn't even realize! Yay! &hearts)
typos ftw

Date: 2011-03-24 02:04 am (UTC)Oof, good luck with that! I've actually been avoiding the poetry and other misc. assignments just to read. I am such a procrastinator. D:
YES! :D It's a trilogy, the kind of books that aren't just books that go together, but a chronological trilogy with cliffhangers at the end of each. LOL. So good thing they're all out now. I may have to re-read it all over again since I went through them all so quickly. Not that I wouldn't want to. XD

Date: 2011-03-24 02:01 am (UTC)I'm a huge book junkie with mysteries/crime/detective novels...I keep meaning to branch out into other genrs.
Lol, but I'm lazy when it comes to searching out recs xD;;;;;I think I read a fanfic last year where someone based it on the hunger games and it was fascinating!

Date: 2011-03-24 02:25 am (UTC)Oh! Would you happen to have any books in those genres to recommend? I've actually been reading a lot of fantasy and kind of want a break from them. I also feel like I shouldn't start another dystopian for a while since they're so involved. XD
That's awesome! I'm curious to know what kind of world they came up with for the games!
