My Eventful Yesterday

Okay, so I really only meant to spend 30 minutes on my userinfo. It was really cluttered and just, messy. But then, 30 minutes became 3 hours. @@;; Why? Because I fail at tables. Nothing I did looked right. I'm also anal and can't leave a project unfinished (I wish that applied to schoolwork). ..But anyway, it's all better now and I'm nice and happy. XD
The junior high/middle school I attended had this program where they practically made all of the students start up a savings account with this bank that sponsored it. I think we received extra credit in our math classes so I happily chucked over my coins and possibly a dollar bill each morning to add to my savings. And I kept it 'til now; my dad would sometimes add money to it and I'd get a couple of cents a year, thanks to interest. LOL, I'm so rich. My dad decided it's high time for me to close that account and start up a checking account at another bank so we headed on over to that bank. Unfortunately, the closest one was at our local supermarket, where everyone, you know, gets their groceries and everyone knows everyone. I know people who bag groceries there! Anyway. It was all good until the bank lady says, "Oh, there seems to be another name under this account." It was my mom, 'cause well, I was young back then and couldn't possibly get a savings account by myself. "We're going to need her signature along with Betty's." This is when my dad goes ballistic. "That's my wife and she's at home. Why do we need her signature, or why can't I sign it? Oh okay, yes, get your manager." Not only did this lady seem inexperienced, but the fact that there's this angry Asian man with an accent probably scared her off. XD And then the manager comes out and basically says the same thing the attendant said. "She has to come here and sign it in person." "ARE YOU GOING TO PAY FOR THE GAS TO TAKE HER HERE?!" And they're all like, we're very sorry but that's how it is, and so my dad calls my mom in Vietnamese and tells her to get dressed to come quick 'cause this bank is crazy. Lol.
I honestly don't get why I couldn't close my account with my own signature as well, because I've already turned 18. What if my mother wasn't in town? I guess I'd just have to wait patiently even if it takes years--HOW MAJORLY INCONVENIENT, XX BANK! Eventually we picked up my mom and got her to sign the paper, not forgetting to angryface at the bank attendants. XD Anyway, got my money and transferred it to a checking account at another bank which is less-problematic. Whoo.

Date: 2008-07-24 10:49 pm (UTC)Oh man, yes. Makes me think twice about looking for part-time work at one in the future. But then again, the pay is good so I might overlook some things. The power of money~.

Date: 2008-07-25 01:50 pm (UTC)oh yes, banks can be such a pain. last summer they messed up on my sister's pass book, and i had to drive back and forth for three days just to get them to correct it. as if we're begging for service, right? =S

Date: 2008-07-25 06:55 pm (UTC)Whoa, you had to drive back and forth that many times? afgalgh Absurdity! And no compensation; that's just crazy. @@;;

Date: 2008-07-26 11:19 pm (UTC)They're ridiculously intimidating. So I drag my dad with me so I don't feel lost in bank-talk and do something wrong. XD

Date: 2008-07-28 04:25 am (UTC)I once had an account that when I went to close it out, the bank gave me the run around too. So I decided if they were going to give me a hard time, I'll take the easy way out! I withdrew all of the money from the account and they closed it a few months later. LOL I don't think all banks will do that, so it may not have worked in your case, but I just found it funny considering they were hassling me so much! XDDD
Oh, and your userinfo = ♥♥♥ ~gorgeous my dear! I love that shade of blue! :D
...and that new Sho icon you have~ sexy! ;3 I have a thing for neckties LOL XDD

Date: 2008-07-28 04:57 am (UTC)ROFL, that was rather.. convenient? XDD I could see how they'd just close it if you weren't planning on keeping any money in it anymore. If we didn't live so close to the bank, we might've just done that! Haha.
♥!! I noticed right afterwards that his picture took up more space than my actual profile. Oh weell~. :D
I see the Sho fangirl in you has come out! LOL Now if Nino wore neckties more often... hee. |D
