This is how it feels to be pc-less.

Time for my monthly updaaate! XD 'k.

A week ago my desktop pc absolutely refused to start up. Tried System Restoring it several times but alas, it still gave me this black screen of um, blank-ness. That's when I knew, I've abused it for far too long. It's at my dad's tech-y friend's house right now, and I'm hoping he can at least get it to work. I need something to use, right? XD If that doesn't work, I'll be getting a new one.

I'm a little sad, and a little glad. I've lost everything: graphics beginning from ages ago (2003-ish, rofl. I like to reminisce, okay?), essays from school, miscellaneous photos, scans (I have yet to think about how I'm going to re-download those again), etc. I'm surprised it could still run as it did with all the junk I kept on it. XDD It was slow and laggy with all that crap bogging it down, so now I'll be able to start anew~ When I get it back, that is. Haha.

I can only check things when my sister's not on her laptop or when I can sneak on the school's computers. Pretending that livejournal-ing is school-related; that's right yo.

On another note! My semester's almost over; I've got two more finals and an essay to write this week and I'm done. Yaay.

OH NOOOOES!!! o-o;; Losing everything is just terrible, but don't feel too bad! You definitely aren't the only one who has had that happen. *points to self* I had TONS of stuff on a portable drive that all of a sudden stopped working AND about a year or two ago, my laptop went rogue on me. It decided that I didn't need all of my school assignments, music, and a bunch of other stuff, so it wouldn't boot correctly. Actually, I knew that something was bound to happen because the thing was overheating constantly, but I found out later that the problem was caused by a faulty fan. -__-;;

Luckily, I was able to get some of the files off the laptop before switching out the hard drive and fan, but the portable is most likely a goner. ^^;; Although I read somewhere that if you put it in the freezer, that will cause the hard disk to contract or something which allows you enough time to pull files off before it dies again. I'm thinking about trying that before chucking the paperweight. LOL XDD

I wouldn't give up hope on your computer entirely, not just yet anyway. Because depending on the actual problem -and the steps you took on your own- the tech guy might be able to salvage something off of it. If he can't...well, then you just get a clean slate to start over with! :) It's a pain re-downloading everything and you can't replace the irreplaceable of course, but starting fresh can be the impetus for a deluge of new and wonderful creations! <-- I'm not sounding too much like a school counselor here am I? XDD;;

XD Coincidentally, my sister's laptop was making some of the strangest whirring noises lately. If you closed your eyes, it'd be like being at a racecar track. LOL. And I figured it was something I did, since everything I touch nowadays gives out. :p Of course, it was the fan.

Oh, really? LOL. If you ever try it out, lemme know if it works. I guess you've got nothing to lose either way. XD Wait, or maybe even post about it. Or about anything. :D? *winks*

Fabulous news! I got the computer back today! Well, it returned bare and.. bare. XD s'alright though. I've been spending my evening installing things. It's a little frustrating though, since the guy installed Windows XP Professional, which was all good at first until I wanted to install the East Asian Language Pack and they requested the CD-ROM. XDD WHAT. (The squares kept bugging me!) But I ended up manually downloading the font so it's okay. :D

It's been so long since I've seen my free space in three digits, that's not in MB. LOL.

Good thing he (yes I use this pronoun for my laptop XD) just was too tired. And I learned my lesson not to have 2 anti-virus programs on my computer. XD
